  • Howe Library 105 Schuyler St Albany, NY 12202 USA (map)

Youth FX is partnering with the Albany Public Library to offer a 6 Week Screenwriting Workshop at the Howe Library (105 Schuyler St.). The series os open to all ages and will run every Monday 6pm-8pm from November 12th - December 17th.

The purpose of this FREE 6 week intensive is to learn about film and television screenplay structure, analyze dramatic strategies in film and television, learn and apply correct script form, and creatively engage in the various stages of original scriptwriting. The goal of this class is to take your film from idea to first draft of a short screenplay.

During the class sessions, we will go over the technical and creative aspects to write a screenplay, using video clip and readings to illustrate these points. We will read sections of screenplays as examples and discuss storytelling strategies. Most writing will take place outside of class, and as people begin to complete pages, we will workshop people’s work.

This workshop is facilitated by David B Easton, a writer, producer, and educator. He writes short and feature screenplays and is a passionate storyteller who joined Youth FX in 2016 and heads up the group’s production company - Rogue FX - in addition to managing a variety of film and commercial productions in New York City.
